Getting Started With Wildflower

Starting therapy can sometimes feel like a big step, especially when you're navigating referrals, appointments, funding, and trying to work out what support may look like for your child.

Our goal is to make the process feel as calm, clear, and manageable as possible.

Every child is different, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to support. We take the time to understand your child as a whole person, including their strengths, interests, support needs, environment, and the goals that matter most to your family.

What happens after I submit an enquiry?

Once we receive your enquiry, one of our team members will reach out to learn a little more about your child, answer any initial questions, and guide you through the next steps.

You may also be asked to complete a New Enquiry Form so we can better understand your child’s strengths, support needs, and goals before your Parent Consultation.

Do I need a referral?

Not always.

Private and NDIS clients generally do not require a referral to access Occupational Therapy services.

If you are hoping to access Medicare rebates, a referral from your GP, paediatrician, or specialist may be required depending on the funding pathway.

You can learn more on our Medicare & Funding page.

What is a parent consultation?

The Parent Consultation is usually the first formal appointment at Wildflower.

This session gives us the opportunity to learn more about your child, your family, and what support may feel most meaningful moving forward.

We’ll talk through things like:

  • your child’s strengths and interests

  • current challenges or concerns

  • emotional regulation, sensory, or functional supports

  • school, home, and everyday experiences

  • your goals and priorities as a family

There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before this appointment, the conversation is designed to feel supportive, collaborative, and guided.

What do sessions look like?

Every child is different, so sessions are tailored to your child’s individual strengths, interests, goals, and support needs.

Sessions are often:

  • play-based

  • relationship-focused

  • flexible and responsive

Therapy can sometimes look different from what people expect, and that’s okay.

We meet children where they are at.

Do you offer clinic, mobile, and telehealth appointments?

Absolutely! Depending on your child’s needs and therapist availability, we may offer:

  • clinic appointments

  • mobile or community-based appointments

  • school or childcare visits

  • telehealth appointments

Our clinic is located in Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast in a calm and welcoming space designed with children and families in mind.

Do you currently have a waitlist?

Availability can vary depending on clinician schedules, appointment type, funding pathway, and preferred appointment times.

After-school appointments are often in high demand and may involve wait periods.
